Giralda of Seville Spain

The Giralda of Seville Spain. The Giralda, the universal symbol of Seville, is the ancient minaret of the Islamic mosque. This tower, measuring 76 meters, was erected in 1184 by order of the Morrocan emperor Aby Yacub Yusuf. It’s foundation utilized stones from Roman monuments. In the 16th century, another level of nativity bells were added to the Islamic architecture, by pushing its height to 95 meters. The reform was directed by Hernán Ruiz II, the Young (1500-1569), who also crowned it with the top piece known as Giraldillo, the spining bronce figure of the victorious faith that gives its name to the tower.
